SNOW MOUNTAIN
PINBALL

CREEPY CRYPT Pinball Machine(s) Project !
2007-2008
Proudly Supported by Classic Playfield Reproductions

While the pinball community aches for something new & different, with eagle eyes watching Stern for the next title(s) coming in the future,
or debating over Medieval Madness remakes, hopes for KingPin, triumphs of Big Bang Bar, and the upcoming release of Retro Pinball's
classic remake of King of Diamonds... quietly working backstage out of the limelight is a group of dedicated pinball designers.
They are Snow Mountain Pinball (formerly known as DIY Pinball) and they are working on their SECOND machine - CREEPY CRYPT.

Classic Playfield Reproductions was approached in the early planning stages of Creepy Crypt in order to line up future plans
for short-run playfields, plastics sets, and possibly backglasses too.  These guys had proven their capabilities, and were well on
their way to doing a run of really cool, modern machines that many people in this hobby *should* be preordering in droves.
We support their effort, and hope to bring enlightenment to many through our own involvement with this upstart machine builder!

SMP and CPR are similar in many ways - eliminators of the "big business" atmosphere, we're both run by hobbyists who love the game and love the work.  Both have come on the scene in the last three years, and we've both been on the cover of GameRoom Magazine.

Both parties see the needs in the hobby, and are "taking matters into their own hands" to get things done that no big business would ever have the time nor motivation to bother.

DIY Pinball tested the waters with its first machine CABIN FEVER in 2006, which was a one-of-a-kind.  Now as SMP, and with more folks onboard, they have upped the ante to doing a RUN of machines.  Yes, that means more than one.  Yay!

So how many will be made?  How much will they cost?  What will the gameplay/playfield/toys/music/sounds be like?

Very good questions.  SMP has been very good at keeping to themselves and not spilling all of the beans.  Keeping progress to
themselves rather than reporting publicly allows them to work at a comfortable pace.  All of these questions can be asked by serious
potential buyers, and SMP would be happy to give you answers.  SMP has the Creepy Crypt project nailed down very well, with
basically the entire design complete and now going through prototyping and testing phases.  For serious potential buyers, they are able
to provide a promotional DVD which is chock full of a complete machine overview - all the theming, the toys, the features, etc.
Basically, the window of opportunity to arrange a preorder or deposit (however they are handling it now) is only open for so long.
The short-run nature of this special build will extend only to ordered machines and maybe a couple extras.

With people paying $5000 to $8000 for "rare" machines from 1998 and 1999... think about owning a brand NIB 2008 machine
with all the coolest toys, designed by true pinheads, modern electronics, hot audio, and only 10 to 20 made !!
Now THAT is a collectible. The support of upstart builders like this can change a lot of things in the hobby.  It did for CPR !
People have wanted another manufacturer other than Stern making brand new pins, and a lot of people have sought ORIGINAL themes.
Snow Mountain Pinball brings it to the table.  Their growth can create a small alternative source of machines people have been seeking.

10 to 20 could very well grow to more units on the next title...who knows what could happen if the hobby supports this venture.

CREEPY CRYPT WELL ON IT's WAY

Classic Playfield Reproductions created the Creepy Crypt prototype whitewood, with SMP's design.
Hardware is being mounted, as each assembly gets finished, and tests are underway:

Here's a look at CPR's shiny new prototype whitewood.

JUNE 2008 UPDATES

1. Creepy Crypt is being tested with a fog machine in the topper!
2. The machine is somewhat playable with very rudimentary ramps.
3. They're going to move a bunch of inserts around to accommodate some of the ramps further up the playfield.
4. Sound board is working as of last week. The 1000 Watt audio system is simply amazing. You can feel the game shake in your hands.
5. They've had a few ranked players do a little testing. Need to make some adjustments, but initial feedback was good!
6. Still much work to be done... but lots of fun!  The main obstacle right now is making real ramps and prototyping the skull mountain.
